Yes, I've read stuff by Gee. I've also David Williamson Shaffer's "How Computer Games Help Children Learn." I'd be interested in talking about any of these books that are about game theory and applying those concepts in the classroom. I don't teach using games. I structure my curriculum delivery to take advantage of the principles of learning in games to keep kids motivated, like creating tiers and levels to complete, rewarding incremental accomplishments, creating roles and rules, etc. I haven't read Marc Prensky, but I heard him speak. That's actually what got me started on all of this.

Hi Bobby,

I'm new here. I've never participated in an online book club, but I've facilitated several "live" ones. I think that many of the princples are the same. I've included a link that may be helpful to you.

One thing that I think is important - and maybe you've already tried this: You have to give people something to talk about. Simply mentioning that you're reading a particular book is not enough for some people. Was there some particulary intriguing aspect of the book that appealed to you? Why? Was there something controversial? Was there some challenge issued? You get the picture. You have to make folks want to talk about it. Give them something to bite into.

Anyway, here's the link. I hope it helps.
