y past experience as a project manager in the media industry has give me a wide range of skills and experience, in dealing with outside agencies, developing and maintaining budgets, dealing with staff issues, scheduling and day to day running of a project and team of people. Working in a different culture and country gave me a great deal of experience working with people of different cultural backgrounds to myself, which gave me the ability to adapt and learn from those differences, which I found very interesting to do so. Since then I have worked as a freelancer so I have experience of dealing with agencies from the opposite side of the coin, which has been very useful. Also my time spent as a freelancer has been very good at developing my own time management skills, as well developing skills in areas such as marketing and creating a contact network.
My teaching experience has given very good presentation skills and the ability to deal and present information to a wide range of people. It has allowed me to develop very good communication skills and confidence to stand in front a group of people and direct a presentation. It has also given me experience of working with both young people and adults.
I'm one of the admins for a miniature painting group based in Sheffield, we meet regularly in Sheffield as well as having an on-line presence. The aim of the group is to improve our painting and encourage others in the hobby - and you don't have to live in Sheffield to be a member - everyone's welcome. We hold a monthly challenge where by people paint a miniature to a particular theme, which is decided and voted for by the club members. The entries each month are voted for by club members via an on-line poll, the winner is awarded a prize.
Recently I’ve combined the two by setting up a free on-line magazine, which I edit and design the layout. The magazine Irregular (http://www.irregularmagazine.com/) is published as a PDF every three months and contains articles on gaming, hobby news, painting tutorials and short stories. As part of this I also write articles, generally on historical topics that would interest gamers. We released issue 1 on July 1st 2009 . Issue 4 is currently on-line.
