School / Work Affiliation: Callaway High School/Media Specialist

I'd appreciate any and all comments about being a high school media specialist. I particularly would like information about online resources and shareware that I can share with my teaching colleagues. As a first year media specialist, I am trying to promote the use of online sources/tools among the staff. Previously, there was information provided to teachers regarding online tools/resources that would be beneficial in the classroom.

Our Brainyflix video contest just ended, and I wanted to thank you for helping us get the word out. We got 800 submissions from across the country!

That said, MIT was really happy with the results and will let us run another contest, so we're going for it! But this time, we're gonna have kids create Brainypics flashcards - which are images and sentences paired up with a one of our SAT/ACT words. The contest ends May 22nd, and there'll be iTunes and a cash prize like last time. To boot, we'll double the payout if the kids can hit a certain goal. There have been some good discussions lately on the best web2.0 tools so if you do a search you will find there is lots to keep you occupied. Personally, I love blogging, slideshare (for ppt online upload), voicethread and skype to name a few. If you do not find the answers, start a discussion thread. Anyway, a warm welcome!!
