About Me: Hi! I'm Melanie. I am relatively new to the field of teaching (this being my 5th year in the classroom). I was a graphic designer prior to moving into education. I teach at a small private high school in Newport News, VA, where I am the business and technology teacher, the IT specialist, the technology integration specialist, and part-time webmaster, along with being the moderator of several clubs and all around go-to person for all things that plug into the wall.

I am married to a wonderfully supportive man and mommy to the most creative and observant 3-year-old daughter. I am an avid reader (I love my Kindle!) and I love to knit (but only scarves...anything else requires too much brain power)

Information Overload!

I have been looking at digital tools to help students locate information and present information. This got me thinking about the information overload that I see many of my students experience. There is so much available that often the student just takes the first thing they can find as being fact, rather than sift through all the info to verify the facts.
