Hi all! I have been working today on a wiki to use for our project. Bear in mind that this is all new to me! The wiki looks okay, but I am wishing that the voicethreads and student writing were better embedded in the wiki, the way that the animoto video is. Plus, it obviously needs more pics, animations, etc. I would love some assistance on polishing it up!
What I did is make some examples on the site so that people can see what I was envisioning with this. All the pictures on the wiki are random pics from my library and have nothing to do with the first day of school--since we have not started yet! But the basic outline is there; I would envision us each having a page linked off the main page, where people can post pictures, videos, etc. The sites I used are just the ones I know about, and I would love any ideas about other sites/ideas. I should also mention that I set up a blog, a wiki, made a voicethread, and an animoto video in the span of an afternoon, and it was very easy considering I had never done any of these things before. The only cost incurred was that I did opt to pay $3 to make a longer animoto video than the free 30 second one--all the sites are free! Obviously, there is still a lot I need to learn, but this is all very doable for any teacher.
Now, to share the wiki. I am going to include a link that I hope will get you to the wiki so that you can see it; however, to allow you to be members--and thereby enable you to upload and edit at will--I will need your regular email address so that I can send you an invitation. I cannot figure out another way to send the invitation other than that, so if you would please send me your address (or let me know of another way to give you wiki membership), I would appreciate it. Let's keep in touch and share ideas, and once you are a member of the wiki, feel free to contribute as you see fit! Enjoy!
Hi Mohamed,
I checked out your blog and was impressed! What age do you teach? I teach 8-9 year olds in the U.S. I would like to collaborate with you if the students are at a similar age. Here is my website from last year, and my blog for this year.
