About Me
I am the editor of Current Events magazine, the Weekly Reader Group's news magazine for grades 6-10. It's what news reporting should be -- a forum for learning about and questioning the forces that are shaping our world. I've also worked as a national editor, political editor and reporter for The Associated Press, and as an editor and reporter for several newspapers. Someone asked me the other day what my favorite job of all of those was. That's a tough one. The truth is, I love to learn (credit goes to John Forsman, Tom Jorgensen and Kirk Daddow, who unfortunately for all future little cyclones is retiring this year). My most inspirational job, without question, was my first in the news business: I was a young education reporter with a backstage pass to experience the innovations and institutional changes that were transforming the schools in a small Michigan town. There is nothing more inspiring than learning from people who care deeply about their community and are driven to make its future leaders the best generations yet.

Hi Stacy!

Happy New Year! I was wondering if you, your educator contacts or students would be interested in participating in a nationwide Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. We'd really like to get more students involved from Iowa!

You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
