New York Online Learning Update

Check out my most recent blog posts on the transformation of education in New York. The new tech plan clearly sees NY in a new direction. The RTTT application integrated virtual education in many areas. As one of the last states to embrace online learning, the transformation is interesting.

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to share this video I created and posted on youTube this week. I created it to express my views and summarize the training I gave this week in Ellicottville, New York. I am a high school social studies teacher of at risk students and am using Moodle to turn my classroom into a hybrid course. Our first school year in the Maze is coming to a close, and we wanted to take a few minutes to reflect on how it has changed the way we learn. How are you using your iPod?

As I write this blog post, I am listening to one of my favorite podcasts, TWIT, with Leo LaPorte! I am a major user of iPods personally and in the classroom, however, until I listened to a new podcast called Learning in Hand: iPod, by Tony Vincent, I did not realize the many other possibilities it affords. I recommend you take a look at authorstream's web based power point presentation platform. It has a ppt podcast feature that might work for you.

I also recommend, since you're interested in web tools for learning, to take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom. It has a bunch of features that might work for your students as well.
