She has developed workshops and implemented training for FISD, other districts, and organizations on science and technology Integration. Melissa is a grant writer, a technology consultant, and mentor. She serves on various committees involving curricular issues. Melissa is an expert in developing total district training sessions and using technology as a whole school reform model. She is a National LoTi Trainer. She is currently serving as the Secretary for the Texas TEC-SIG (Technology Coordinators Special Interest Group). Every teacher in the Floresville District has a Laptop PC, computer projector, Promethean Whiteboard, and has had extensive training in Technology Integration. She endeavors to spread the excitement and to demonstrate value of technology to administrators and colleagues. Melissa is a National LoTi Trainer and Floresville ISD, a 4A district, has produced over 1000 LoTi level three or above lessons that are posted on the FISD website. Melissa is the web administrator for the district. Melissa meets with the curriculum department weekly to help infuse technology in every class every day. FISD’s evaluators are experience in LoTi walk-throughs and now they have incorporated authentic technology use into all teacher evaluations.
Melissa also oversees the technology department and is familiar with the challenges of maintaining a robust network with a limited amount of money.
Melissa believes that a district should have standardized equipment for every classroom and the standard expectation that technology is a part of every classroom’s curriculum. She feels that technology is the driving force behind modern educational pedagogy, and can be the tool to increase, significant student success. She hopes that educational technology leaders can work together to find ways to facilitate the use of Web 2.0 technology in all classrooms.

Hi Melissa,

With your work in Technology for Florisville ISD, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.

Here’s a Public Class on Technology Integration you might be interested in.

Hi Melissa. I was wondering if your students would be interested in participating in a nationwide SAT Vocab Video Contest @ MIT university. If not, perhaps you have some other educator contacts you could direct me to. You can view contest details at BrainyFlix.com Please let me know. Thanks!
