Examples and links to Nings actually used in the classroom

Greetings. I am teaching a Web 2.0 class to the faculty at my school later this month. When I cover Nings, I'd love to point them to a few examples of that students have used (last year?) or are using now. Does anyone have a Ning they'd be willing to let my faculty see? I will be using a Ning this year for our 7th grade Outside Reading Program (ORP) and will be happy to share some screen shots. We don't start school until after Labor Day and the ORP program doesn't start until later in September. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Steve! I really appreciate it. I knew about the education.ning site, but not the wiki site you referenced. This ning, classroom 2.0 is fabulous. Thanks for doing it!

I would love to share the wiki that I will be using for my class, but it is really not ready for prime time and I'm afraid of the (constructive) criticism I'd get. I will post it soon though,

Hi Linda
we are just starting on the ning journey with students. Our ning is designed for students in Year 9/10 and at this stage our focus is on getting students to explore Web2 applications and to reflect on how they are affecting theirs and other's lives. I have made the ning by invitation only and we have all of 16 members at the moment. My class is small as it is an ICT elective. But if you would like to join, just send me an email at annieb3525(at)gmail (dot)com and I would be very happy to have you join us. I am on the lookout for students to join us too so if you have a group who might like to participate please let me know.

Oh wow! that sounds interesting. I will be interested to hear how your class goes. I would love to see it. And if you want to see my 7th grade ning (also closed, obviously, I'd be happy to do so.) I read a posting from someone named Jen that nings have lost their luster for her, so to speak. She feels as if her students get 'lost' in the ning and that the blogging experience seemed to be more dynamic and successful. Hmmmm. Something to think about, I guess. Linda, I saw a great ning referenced here at Classroom 20 but I can't find it now. Students, I think middle schoolers, had set up an extensive ning on the 1950's. I was glad to see a ning whose main focus was academic not social. Hopefully the woman who led the charge for her students will pop back in an tell us where to find it!
