Hello, My name is Jessica Haines. I am a fourth year teacher at Hoover High School in North Canton, OH. I teach Physics and Chemistry. I love the sciences. I came across this website when I was researching for a presentation I had to give in my grad school class. I am currently getting my master's degree in Instructional Technology and it was my job to present to the class some ideas about Web 2.0. I have only touched the surface of this site I think and there are so many things to explore. I am fascinated by the immense amount of resources and contacts that this site has. I hope to use this more often in my teaching and to get some ideas for my classroom. I am not sure if there are any other teachers in my area or if we are all spread out over the states. It will fun to see what I can find.
I'm sure you will continue to be amazed with all you can learn about here. The nice thing about ning is you will more than likely get a quick response!
This is a wonderful site. My book,, Using Humor to Maximize Learning, the Links between the Positive Emotions and Learning. was just published this year by Rowman and Littlefield. I want to use technology as a tool for educators to share ways that they use humor to promote joyful learning and increase retention. As I provide workshops on stress management and infusing humor into the process, I am gaining many additional ideas from educators. I would like to find ways to share these. I am a novice in this type of technology. I do have a web site with research and strategies, but would like to find other ways for educators to share their ideas and resources on stress reduction, humor as a tool for memory retention and as a hook for getting attention. Please check out my web site for additional information. www.questforhumor.com
Thanks for any ideas you might have for me! Mary Kay
My name is Mary Kay Kavanaugh and I work in a rural middle school outside of the Chicago suburbs. I recently earned my master's in instructional technology and hold a Technology Specialist certificate with the State of Illinois. I am currently teaching 7th grade science and 7th/8th grade computer enrichment. I am always looking for new ways to help reach my students. I am also working with other teachers to help them "branch" out and integrate technology into all subject areas. I look forward to all the wonderful ideas and suggestions that everyone has.
Hi all,
I'm Kathy Simpson-- I'm a literacy coach generally in 6-12 classrooms and am particularly interested in moodling and podcasting. I've used moodle with teachers, but not yet with students and would love to see what others are doing. I also am new to podcasting, but eager to try it with teachers and their students. Also looking for other ideas on technology and literacy across the content areas.

Hi! I'm Lou Leonard from the Philippines. I am a high school science teacher by profession but have never taught in high school yet. I've taught in preschool for three school years, college for 4 semesters, and private tutoring for about 5 years. But I use to collaborate with high school science teachers on the use of technology into their classrooms, I have taught them on maximizing productivity tools, educational software and the internet. Currently I do quality audit and evaluation and on the side I do training on productivity tools and consultation on computer-aided assessment.
