Podcasts

Hi everybody! All of you were so much help last time with my questions about getting wikis approved for use by the school that I wanted to mine you for more help. I was wondering if anyone is utilizing podcasts in the classroom at this point. If so, what types of activities are being done?

We recently received 70 Zen from the state and are looking for best practices and innovative ideas. I have already suggested recording novels we do not have audio to for our special needs students, adding sound to quiz units created with hotpot or in Moodle, recording discussion, and utilizing them for an oral record of grading writing. Throw me some more ideas so we can utilize the technology for the benefit of our students. Oh, and links to podcasts are quite welcome!

if you had an audio production of a shakespeare play? would that be useful? which play?

how about an audio production of some novel you're assigning in your classes (not just for the special needs people but for all students to listen to and read)?

http://podiobooks.com has free podcast fiction - some not age appropriate (depending on student), some very appropriate.

how about modern novels?

how about subscribing to some 'writing podcasts' .. or game 'casts?

The problem with this question is that it's a technology in search of a solution.

Where would sound help? What are some of the problems with text? Where can a performance help instruction? Answer those and you're halfway there.

I do have a vision, but really want to see what else is being done. Currently, I am away from the classroom to train teachers on using technologies in the classroom. These were purchased for the school, but there has been question of how and why to use them. Although I have offered suggestions, the general consensus is that it just isn't useful. So, I am throwing this question out there to see what ideas I may have missed.
