I am currently teaching in a day care setting. I am thinking about introducing the Scholastic Book Club program to the families in hopes of getting the children interested in reading. Does anyone use this program in their classrooms? Is it hard to put together or run? What are the benefits? Thanks for all of your help.

Hi Lisa,
Scholastic is a great, CHEAP way for parents and teachers to build their libraries. They are NOT perfect, and I have had a FEW times when an order got mixed up over the last thirteen years, BUT they are very quick to remedy any problems. I now always use the online ordering option and have also begun giving parents that online option as well the last three years. My only complaint is that a lot of families don't see the value of OWNING a book. I'm not sure how to get that concept across, other than making sure I GIVE each child a brand new book once or twice each year. Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions at mtegrootenhuis@moc-fv.k12.ia.us

Good luck!
