PlaceSpotting is one of the funniest way to use Google Maps to teach/learn how localize a place and change scales...

You can use it to find places of your international partners like here...:

Click on the links to play... Good luck and post a comment to tell us if you win or fail...

Clique sur les liens pour commencer à jouer... Bonne chance et poste un commentaire pour nous dire si tu as trouvé ou échoué...

Hawkesdale
Manosque
Portsmouth
Sartell
Wawautosa

or find nice or strange places like those below i created for my students...

Grade 6 - The detroit of petroleum
Grade 7 - The mysterious crater
Grade 8- A plastic sea

Have you ever tried this this site ? Are you interested to share riddles between students and teachers from all over the world ?

Nice...you can also make virtual field trips in Google Maps, like one covering German speaking Europe http://www.begeleidzelfstandigleren.com/aardrijkskunde/losse_animat... or one in London http://www.begeleidzelfstandigleren.com/aardrijkskunde/losse_animat......
Great site - will look at ways of integrating this as our students have poor mapping skills and sense of place - will need to spend some time on this.
