I have been asked to send technology questions for something with the working title, “Roadmap to Grade 8 Student Success.”
I need:
1 question that reflects on 21st Century student learning during the year (e.g., can I X? am I comfortable with Y? do I understand Z?)
1 question that students should ponder at the end of the year as they look ahead to applying learning in the future (e.g., how can I use X skill in the summer or in ninth grade?).
The primary audience is students. Teachers, parents, admins are secondary.
Here are some questions I've come up with, but I'd love to hear your questions.
Current: Am I engaging in safe, acceptable, and appropriate behavior online?
Looking Forward: How can I begin creating a purposeful digital footprint that reflects the person I am today and want to be tomorrow?
Current: Do I know how to develop my personal learning network by appropriately commenting on and rating published work online such as blog posts, videos, podcasts, and more?
Looking Forward: How can I begin publishing meaningful and innovative work online in areas of deep personal interest?
Current: Do I know how to interact in a professional and educationally sound way when participating in online communities?
Looking Forward: How can I use the online communities in which I am involved to develop my personal learning network?
Current: Am I involved in online games and simulations (i.e. Tabula Digita, Sim City, Rise of Nations) that will support my creative thinking, logic, and my academic growth?
Looking Forward: How/where can I learn to start building and creating my own online games and simulations?
Current: Do I know how to evaluate, use, and determine the credibility of the resources I use online?
Looking Forward: How can I create online resources that are credible and meaningful?
