I have been asked to send technology questions for something with the working title, “Roadmap to Grade 8 Student Success.”

I need:
1 question that reflects on 21st Century student learning during the year (e.g., can I X? am I comfortable with Y? do I understand Z?)
1 question that students should ponder at the end of the year as they look ahead to applying learning in the future (e.g., how can I use X skill in the summer or in ninth grade?).

The primary audience is students. Teachers, parents, admins are secondary.

Here are some questions I've come up with, but I'd love to hear your questions.

Current: Am I engaging in safe, acceptable, and appropriate behavior online?
Looking Forward: How can I begin creating a purposeful digital footprint that reflects the person I am today and want to be tomorrow?

Current: Do I know how to develop my personal learning network by appropriately commenting on and rating published work online such as blog posts, videos, podcasts, and more?
Looking Forward: How can I begin publishing meaningful and innovative work online in areas of deep personal interest?

Current: Do I know how to interact in a professional and educationally sound way when participating in online communities?
Looking Forward: How can I use the online communities in which I am involved to develop my personal learning network?

Current: Am I involved in online games and simulations (i.e. Tabula Digita, Sim City, Rise of Nations) that will support my creative thinking, logic, and my academic growth?
Looking Forward: How/where can I learn to start building and creating my own online games and simulations?

Current: Do I know how to evaluate, use, and determine the credibility of the resources I use online?
Looking Forward: How can I create online resources that are credible and meaningful?

Are students answering these questions?

--How can I begin creating a purposeful digital footprint that reflects the person I am today and want to be tomorrow?
OR
--If someone "googled" your name what would you want them to find?
I took this to some 8th graders and here's what they came up with. Now I am being asked to prioritize. What do you all think should be the order and why?

1-Current: Do I know how to tell the difference between a fake and legitimate online resource? Do I know how to use these resources in my academic work?
Looking forward: How can I create my own online resources that are legitimate, useful, and meaningful?

2-Current: How can I create a community of learners by politely and appropriately commenting on other people's published work online (blogs, videos, podcasts, and more)?
Looking Forward: How can I publish meaningful, creative work online that focuses on areas or subjects that are interesting to me?

3-Current: Am I involved in online environments, simulations and/or games (i.e. Tabula Digita, Sim City, Rise of Nations, Teen Grid) that will support my creative thinking and my academic growth?
Looking Forward: How/where can I learn to start building and creating my own online games and simulations?

4-Current: Do I know how to talk maturely and professionally when using online tools and learning networks?
Looking Forward: How can I use the online communities to help me learn more and to communicate my learning to my peers and the outside world?

5-Current: Am I using educational websites and online programs that are appropriate for my age and school?
Looking Forward: How can I begin creating work online that reflects the person I am today and want to be tomorrow?
