If you have worked with elementary students on social issues units of study or action projects I would appreciate your help. I would like ideas to get others involved in our search for social issues. I would like them to understand issues people face in the world, find an issue they are passionate about, take action on that issue, and persuade others to do the same.

Any ideas or thoughts?

I like your wiki on the subject (and your project ideas). I wish I had some ideas for you. I'll give it some thought. Next year I am going to start an enviornmental club at out school and I personally would like students to become more aware of their environment (as an issue).

Love the idea for your wiki! If you haven't come across Teaching Tolerance magazine before, it's a great resource for these types of projects. They offer free video kits on several social justice issues and have tons of great ideas. This year our students participated in the Pinwheels for Peace project as well as the Mix It Up at Lunch Day. These were both fun projects and nice opportunities to address social justice issues.
