I'm introducing a digital media club to Cuyahoga County with a goal of reducing school dropout rates. The Club will incorporate project based learning in digital animation, video game creation, digital movie making, 3D modeling, and a few green initiatives. We will meet at a physical location as well as online to foster a team environment. We'll design, create, and build all sorts of projects hopefully increasing our writing, reading, reading comprehension, and math skills. I would love to hear more ideas from professionals already hosting clubs like this or just ideas for bettering our plans.

Stephanie,

I teach an award winning multimedia program that is internationally recognized. Each spring, we host a celebration of our student's work at on of our local theaters. Over 1,500 people from around the country fly in to watch the films, and celebrate the student work.

Digital media can be used as an incredible tool to help inspire student achievement. This month we will be hosting our first annual online festival. A select number of schools around the nation have been invited to participate. Next year we hope to open it to a much larger audience. If you are interested in learning more, or if I can be of help, please let me know.

Best wishes with you program.

That sounds great! You might incorporate some career exploration into the club, such as the occasional involvement of mentors from industry or having a panel come each semester to talk to the students about possible careers.
Hi Stephanie,

With your work in Digital Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service.
Here’s a Public Class on Technology Integration you might be interested in given by Nellie Deutsch.
