Any schools want to collaborate with a CT middle school? In the US or International!!

Hi there - I am a 7th grade SS teacher in CT. I am looking to find other schools to collaborate - in the US or outisde the US. I am using a site that I helped to build at SEEdebate.org. SEEdebate is free and safe for students because it is closed. Students can't sign up without teacher codes to use. They are then within the teachers' "class" which makes it easier for teachers to pull up their students' comments. The comments are moderated too. You can design any type of discussion you want, some use it for simulations, wikis etc. Also, it is just a forum if you want to have students discuss with others. Anyway - I would love to get my students talking with other students aged 11 - 14!! Please let me know!

I registered with Seedebate. I could not find you, the policy being not to put your real name I do not know your user name.
Here is mine dpTeacher. Let me know what you plan to do.
Thank you
Dominique.
I am an English teacher in the United States (New York). I teach middle school students (ages 12-14). We will be working on a unit after Thanksgiving on grammar/usage/mechanics. I would love to possibly work with students in a different country learning English. Let me know your thoughts.
What subject or topics are you interested in collaborating on? I teach Medieval World History, so if you would like to collaborate on that topic, I would like to sign up my classes. =)
I was thinking more of general discussion on life at school!
Subject-wise I'm Mathematics
Hi Catherine - I am World Geography and Cultures which is more of a current thing. Let me see if I can find a Medieval World teacher who might be interested?
Hi Meghan,

World Geography and Cultures might work for my classes. The pacing in my district is horrendous, we stay on each unit for just three weeks. We're currently studying Japan and their culture. =)

Thanks for looking for other Medieval World History teachers for me.

Catherine
I have one of my speech teachers looking into using this forum as a weekly or bi-weekly assignment. He's starting it out with them discussing in their own class, but I think that later on we may want to try collaborating with other classes. Is there a way to do that within the website (for instance, linking teachers to teachers to discuss things and set up meetings) or would it have to be done in another way?
There is a teacher's lounge there - but as of yet, no one has really used it. We can try it out or we can communicate via email. Mine is my first initial and last name @ tolland.k12.ct.us.
I teach 7th grade Science and Reading in Nebraska, and would love to have my students communicate with your students. I does subject matter make a difference? My students communicate on a wiki site we created, but miss out on communicating outside our building.

Let me know if we could try.
Hi Darren - You can email me at mconnelly@tolland.k12.ct.us so that I can keep in touch from school. As of now, I am pretty sure that getting my students registered at SEEdebate will have to wait until after the Christmas holidays. I am thinking that I will get them set up the first few days we are back in January, and then I will be ready to assign them. I attached instructions to create an account at SEEdebate if you haven't already!

hello
I'm interested in your activities. Because I am a teacher in Thailand, grade 11-level students need to learn conversation with foreigners. Active substance and creativity. In addition, they need to practice thinking skills. Comments. Writing and media training. My students are all women. Then I will give my students to chat or discuss here or not. Thanks
Hello! I would love to get my students and your students communicating. You can email me at mconnelly@tolland.k12.ct.us so that I can keep in touch from school (my school blocks ning). As of now, I am pretty sure that getting my students registered at SEEdebate will have to wait until after the Christmas holidays. I have no time to do it and no computers! I am thinking that I will get them set up the first few days we are back in January, and then I will be ready to assign them. My name at SEE is MrsC. Please let me know what you are thinking!
Meghan
