With 3D display technology being all the rage ar CES this year, how long will it be until these 3D immersive educational tools find their way into the classroom?
* Smartboards with 3D displays ?
* 3D projectors ?
* Immersive Touch ?
Perhaps this is an area ISTE could lead the charge on .. starting in Colorado this summer ;)
I would argue that 3D technology will not make it into the classroom until really high quality curriculum resources that take advantage of 3D capabilities become available. Whereas this technology has the potential to truly engage students in teaching and learning I hope that the companies that have the resources to make these kinds of curriculum resources do so quickly, but with the highest quality.
My school system has done some partnering with Kent State University to conduct research using 3-D technology with middle school students. They were comparing student achievement of students instructed with 3-D technology and students taught only with traditional instruction.
