Hello all,

I teach middle school social studies in South Carolina. My school has just ordered 30 laptops for classroom use. Our next unit is on Reconstruction in the South. Any ideas how I can use them?

Hi Will-

Do you have anything particular in mind? We just recently did a project with our kids where they logged on to the website scrapblog.com and created their own presentations about topics/people/events in westward expansion. Scrapblog has some more bells and whistles than powerpoint so the kids liked it. Depending on what software you have, you can also make some pretty cool mind-maps on the computer as a way to brainstorm or a quick check-in to see what they are retaining.

thanks ted I will look into it
I put together a sqworl of technology resources... http://sqworl.com/rd0lv6

in ToonDoo, they could create their own comic strips
in XtraNormal, they could have characters act out a discussion
in Glogster, they could create virtual posters for a topic or theme
in BigHugeLabs, there are many different things they could do... that site in itself is an entire resource

Hopefully that gives you some other tech ideas to start thinking about incorporating with the netbooks your school has purchased.
thanks Junks
