Hello,

My name is Michael Kloran and I have a site of teaching materials for teachers and students in ESL courses. It is something I have made in my spare time and on weekends. I do some freelance illustration work on the side and so have tried to blend my two activities into one.

I would appreciate any feedback or ideas you may have.

The site can be found at: www.myenglishimages.com

Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Love the illustrations. I particularly like your drawings of famous people. Are these images available for other teachers to use? I teach German and I know some of your illustrations would work well for vocab sets.
This is a great site you have created. I know I can't use your whole site with my bilingual first graders but the illustrations are great for introducing vocabulary in English. I will check it out often.
Dear Michael.
I had a good look at your website and the blog. I really like the ease and playfulness of the characters and illustrations. The worksheets seem to work very well. I'll make sure to try some of them with my students and will let you know about how it went.
Weill try the games, for sure, especially the Zoom, Schwarz, Perfigliano one.
The only things I was sort of hoping to find was a sort of cartoon strip story with returning characters ad stories. I know there are zillions of these but we English Teachers love them.
Will be back to check out all the illustrations and activities.
Cheers.
Hope life is treating you well in Japan.

Take care and thanks for sharing.

I love this website. I am always looking for activities that require students to use specific descriptive words and improve their expressive language, Thanks for the post!
I liked your images. I can see having my beginners create dialogues, journal entries, cartoons, etc. around them. Did you do the artwork yourself?

I teach high school ESL, am a teacher trainer in working with ELLs, a university adjunct in ESL Methodology, and regular presenter in ELD issues at national conferences.

Take a look at my site. Tell me what you think. So far, over 14 months, I have had over 3,000 visitors:)

Denise:)
You need to get more exposure for your site. Though my website is a little more than a year old, my blog is brand new. Put your link on mine. I am doing two statewide presentations in the next two months and I would be more than happy to push your site. I will also ask my webmaster to add your link to our website.

Take a look at the website and tell me under what heading you think it would best fit.

Denise:)
If you are referring to conference presentations, here is the list:

Boosting Writing Skills of ELLs With a Fabulous Free Website (me and www.readwritethink.org)...lots of already prepared lessons which also include working links. All the lessons are prepared by teachers. The site was designed by the National Council of Teachers of English (which now includes material for ELLs finally). I will be leading a quick tour and then will zero in on the interactive sites and how they can easily be added to any lesson involving writing. Teachers will then start to develop a lesson with me.

My colleague, Cheryl, will be leading a workshop on the software, Inspiration. You can access it for free for 30 days by going directly to their site. This site has graphic organizers for every subject area for grades 6-12. You may also create your own. I think it costs about $70.00.

Another colleague, Marnie, is doing a workshop on selecting appropriate sites for beginners (grades K-12). Teachers will be designing lessons using recommended sites.

November, we will be presenting as a team at CUE (Computer Using Educators) and the topic will be around web 2.0 and ELLs. It will address the need to provide access to all the pluses of cloud computing for students with no access to it outside of school. This one is a work in progress since CUE is very techie, but Marnie and I are just novices here:)

Hi Michael.
What an awesome site. I am going to share it with the ELL teacher at my school. As I was looking at your site I saw many ideas to help me communicate with the ELL students in my computer lab. Just simple things like clarifying that we tend to forget in the day to day routine. Thank you so much for sharing this.
ILLUSTRATIONS AND FORMAT IS EASY ON THE EYE. YOU HAVE INCLUDED JUST ENOUGH TEXT. I WOULD USE YOUR SITE TO HELP ENHANCE THE VOCABULARY OF MY FOURTH GRADE STUDENTS WHO ARE FOR THE MOST PART FIRST GENERATION ENGLISH SPEAKERS. THEY LOVE TO DRAW AND YOUR ILLUSTRATIONS ARE VERY APPEALING. RIGHT NOW WE ARE USING WORD WIZARD BY SCHOLASTIC BUT THEIR VISUALS ARE EXTREMELY LIMITED.

I WOULD LIKE TO SEE GRADE SPECIFIC WORD LISTS.
YOU CAN EVEN DO WORD LISTS AROUND POPULAR BOOKS.
THERE REALLY IS VERY LITTLE OUT THERE UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SAT WORD LISTS.

THANKS
