I am a fifth grade teacher. I use cooperative learning in the classroom but am looking at other opinions on cooperative learning from other professionals. Any feedback is welcome!
For me, this has always been a viable way to work with students. I use Karl Kagans' Tribe model. My studnets seem to like it! After all it prepars them for work as a team member in the real world. I have worked with students from grade 4 - 12 and have used the concepts all thoughout those grades.
Oh too funny! I have been using the TRIBE method for 10 years and SPENCER Kagan's cooperative learning practices equally for 10 years. My response to you blended both practices. I had to go to my library to give you the information you want! The book I use for Kagan's practices you can find at: http://www.kaganonline.com/google/cooperative_learning/
His website is wonderful! Enjoy reading about it!
T.R.I.B.E.S. is a process that creates a culture that maximizes learning and human development by Jeanne Gibbs. You can find about it at: http://www.tribes.com/about/
