We used Facebook for our discussion journal for our student orientation class. These are college students and they all really liked this method. We make it a closed group where only the member could see the discussion. May be something to think about for your class if you're in a post-secondary program.

I can't take credit for it, as my co-instructor idea, but I thought that I would share it with you all.

How are you all using Facebook?

I also use a closed group with my Spanish classes. I have them upload videos of themselves speaking. It encourages them to do better when they know I'm not the only one seeing the videos because their peers will too. It also gives them the opportunity to do some reflective peer review.
As a student in a teaching program, do you find using facebook useful, and are you not seeing your students becoming sidetracked with the site instead of listening to you?
