As you have come to the end of the novel, you have learned of Winter's journey. You have identifed with her ideals, her struggles, her strengths and her weaknesses as the main character. Considering that most would believe that we are what we are exposed to and also taking into account the concept that it is human nature to base desires and goals for our future on the environment in which we live in, Winter was not as receptive to the idea of allowing change to happen in her life. She rebelled against Souljah, befriended even the enemies or her father and sacrificed her family to "make it" on her own. Winter's outcome was one that in a general and more realistic setting would have been expected but seemed almost surreal for her considering the journey that she had been traveling.

Using literary devices such as analogies, allusion, symbolism, characterization, analysis of oxymorons, and be sure to include an aphorism, provide your own analysis of Winter and the decisions that she made as they related to the fate that she had to endure holistically. Consider all that she had experienced and all that she had lost, as well as how her situation could have possibly been different.

As i get to the end of the novel I see that winter is turning into something that she is not. winter is usually a stuck up female that messes with high class men but that all changes at that end of the book, but i like the fact that her and her family was separated because it shows her that when you are grown no one is there for you but your self so what ever you need you have to go grind for it your own self.
Thats a great obsaervation. She relize that no one is there for every single time.
Uhm you proved a very good point about how as we get older we're not really going to have anybody to depend on but ourselfs. I have to agree with your response. Winter wants to get the "ballers" so she won't have to work to ger hers just like her mom was treated at the beginning. She learned mostly every wrong thing from her parents. Yeah they were smart, but they should have not had spoiled to early and maybe she wouldn't be having a hard time now.
.I belive winter had her strongest was she was out to survive. She had to get money anyway it came. Her weakness was she rebel against people who tried to help her. Winter was selfish in many ways. She would betray the people to get what ever she wanted. In hetr head the world was in their hands and it was all about her.
Winter was a free spirit wanting for nothing while growing up, she never had any limitations. She was always secure in her environment, until her father let the dope game get over his head. She seeked wealth and happiness, ultimately making smart and dangerous decisions to achieve them. Money and men symbolized happiness and security to Winter wihtout it she began making wrong decisions. Her language, attitude, and outlook on life was ahead of her time. She sees her body as a source of getting what she wants. She has a attitude that makes and brakes her. Her attitude uplift her at her worst times, and destroy her at the stable times she has. Winter become a liability to man because her her strong personality, attitude, and looks. She has the ability to twist a man's mind up and persuade them to do what she wants. Ultimately she does what she want to do, but let other people convince her to do things.
I disagree with jas when u said that she let other people convince her to do other things. Beacuse Winter had the attitude that she was so much more than anybody that she could care less what they had to say, as long as she got what she wanted out of them.
I disagree with Gary'sha Her weaknesses where when she had to depend on people to things for her.
Winter acted in a very rebellion way to the people who tried to help her.WInter always got what she wanted and if she didnt get what she want she will get it no matter what she had to do.Winter was also a person who wanted things to be done her way and she also was full of lies, but what influnced her was the place she was living a place were there was negative problems.Winter was used to buying expensive clothes and shoes so cause of that they couldnt administrate there money that well, but it was Santiagas fault because he raised her like that, giving her everything she ever wanted. If Winter wounld have been rich she would of maybe turned out to be diffrent, because money can cause alot of problems especially if at one minute you have everything and in just an instent you lose absolutely everything.
I agree with what you saying. Santiaga brought her up like that so she use what he taught her to get around and by that means if messing over people could get her somewhere thats what she just had to do.
I feel as since Winter was so use of stuff giving to her and seeing how things work put a big impact on her life. The reason I say that is because after her father went to prison, and her sisters going to another care and her mother being on drugs, and her aunt being like she was. She had know where to go so therefore she use what she learned and what was taught to her to survive. She used her street smarts to work her way around people. If her ego and her personality wasnt so based off the streets and from what she know, I honestly think she wouldnt made it after things started happening to her family.
I agree with you Alyssia because to me her father is her role model. In the story she wanted money so like her daddy she started hustling and talking back to other people.
Winter appears to be very aware of what she's doing and the situation that she's in. She thinks that she has the right solution to everything when her life goes down hill. She very manipulative and uses everything she has to get what she wants. But then every one turns on her because they realized that they are being used and Winter is just stuck up , self-centered and ungrateful. Winter only wanted the best things for herself. Whether that meant being seductive, lying, or stunting, she just had to have what she wanted, when she wanted it.
