As you have come to the end of the novel, you have learned of Winter's journey. You have identifed with her ideals, her struggles, her strengths and her weaknesses as the main character. Considering that most would believe that we are what we are exposed to and also taking into account the concept that it is human nature to base desires and goals for our future on the environment in which we live in, Winter was not as receptive to the idea of allowing change to happen in her life. She rebelled against Souljah, befriended even the enemies or her father and sacrificed her family to "make it" on her own. Winter's outcome was one that in a general and more realistic setting would have been expected but seemed almost surreal for her considering the journey that she had been traveling.
Using literary devices such as analogies, allusion, symbolism, characterization, analysis of oxymorons, and be sure to include an aphorism, provide your own analysis of Winter and the decisions that she made as they related to the fate that she had to endure holistically. Consider all that she had experienced and all that she had lost, as well as how her situation could have possibly been different.
