I am looking for free online timeline tools.  I am working with a 5th grade class.  They will be making timelines for their state reports.  I was hoping for a tool that is easy to use, but would include more than the date and event.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hello,

I have found timetoast to work really well. You can put in pictures as well as details, not only date and time. The timeline is very interactive and moves along as your cursor moves so it does not take up much screen space. You can embed it as well.

Enjoy!

I'm a big fan of Dipity for creating (and viewing) interactive, multi-media timelines.

Another teacher recently told me about Capzles -- I haven't tried it yet, though.

If those tools are too in-depth, Prezi is really simple to use, and you can make some great multi-media timelines, as described here. (Here's an example of a student-created Prezi timeline.)

Good luck!
