Blog Carnival

A Blog Carnival is a particular kind of blog community. Blog Carnivals typically collect together links pointing to blog articles on a particular topic. A Blog Carnival is like a magazine. It has a title, a topic, editors, contributors, and an audience. Editions of the carnival typically come out on a regular basis (e.g. every monday, or on the first of the month). Each edition is a special blog article that consists of links to all the contributions that have been submitted, often with the editors opinions or remarks.

Hey, feel free to join in the Ed Tech Blog Carnival that comes out every other week! I would love to start rotating the carnival around to different hosts.

Cool! I think more specific education carnivals would fill a great need! When you say active learning, do you mean constructivism, PBL, total physical response, or what? Which content areas would you cover?

I look forward to seeing what guidelines you come up with!

I think of Active Learning as a student-centred approach that engages participants in activities to help them remember, understand, create learning artifacts and connect to others. So yes, everything you mention applies. I have one of my blog posts about creating meaningful artifacts on the main Classroom 2.0 page. It's focused on medicine where I work, so I don't know if it makes sense to submit it to your carnival.

The Ed Tech Blog Carnival is a wonderful up and coming carnival.

The Teacher Potluck Carnival is another fun option for educators as well.

The blog carnival is really cool. I have participated in the EdTech Blog Carnival edited by Jeremy Aldrich. I enjoyed the experience when I participated in the first issue with my blog post, 7 Steps For Online Class. I plan to participate in future. EdTech BlogCarnival issues.

When I read Jeremy's blog a few weeks ago, he mentioned that he was looking for some collaborating editors to make this a traveling BlogCarnival.

This might be an excellent opportunity for you. There are many benefits of joining forces with others, and the main benefit is the mulitplication of readers when you combine your contacts with others.

You can learn more about Jeremy Aldrich by reading his blog, his CR2.0 profile and other online resources. Good luck to you as you promote BlogCarnivals. It is a worthy quest. I love them.

As I mentioned to Jeremy, I'm hoping to do one on Active Learning, which is my current area of research. I think he has a great carnival and co-editors are a must. Hopefully this discussion will inspire others to join him.

I set up an Active Learning Blog Carnival. This site allows you or colleagues to submit articles to the monthly Carnival http://blogcarnival.com/bc/cprof_2804.html so get the word out to all your blogger friends.

The first carnival will be November 9th with a deadline of November 4th for submissions.

I'm looking for someone else to host other issues of the carnival, a task that involves accepting submissions and entering them into the carnival blog.
