Fourth Grade Class seeks another class to collaborate with from another country!

Hi Aimee -

We do a unit called "Every Day Heroes" at the beginning of the year in our 4th grade - the theme is "In our daily lives we are faced with challenges which can be overcome with courage and perseverance" - we do some social studies / civics type studies in this unit and also a lot of individual writing projects - perhaps we could hook up for this unit in some way? We have done digital storytelling for this project before, and it would be great to have some classes with whom we could share our stories and exchange comments... Also, we do other units on plants, energy, exploration, and marketing / advertising later in the year, in case any of these themes tie in with your studies. Keep in touch!

Thank you!  This sounds wonderful!  We would love to connect with your project.  I've made a wiki that we can post student work to comment on.  Our focus will be on sharing information on what a democracy is, roles of a citizen, balance of power, and how laws are made.  I'm wondering if you teach government in fourth grade?  My students would share their new knowledge and ask your students questions about how your local government works.  The bulk of this unit takes place Jan-June.  I would love to connect to get to know each other and help you with your project at the beginning of the year.  We begin in September.
