Target Audience(s): Curriculum/Professional Development staff, Administrators

Short Session Description (one line): See how our school district is making professional development available to teachers anytime, from anywhere.

Full Session Description (as long as you would like): We know how valuable good professional development is, but no one ever has enough time, especially between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. So our school district (14 elementary, 4 secondary buildings) has started using recorded webinars to make professional development available to staff when they have time. Hear what we've learned over the last 18 months and see where we are going in the next 18. You will find some tips on what to (and probably not to!) do with your staff to get them on the track of learning at their convenience. We will talk about the pros and cons of the tools we are using as well as other options available. Examples from other districts will also be shared.

Terrific.

Excited about this one!  I'm a District Technology Trainer and we've moved to a hybrid / blended format where we have workshop time, hands on in the computer lab coupled with sharing work samples teachers create, questions and reflections via a Ning network I set up for our District.  It's been a great way to extend the learning time for teachers outside of the regular day.  We've talked about moving to webinars so I'm curious to hear about your experiences!

Perhaps some of the people in your district would be interested in our Moodle Meet idea. These are FREE 1 week, online professional development opportunities developed by teachers for teachers. Participants engage in the learning activities and discussions that interest them the most at times that best suit them. Webinars are synchronous but they are archived for later viewing. The next one is about about Smartboards and Notebook software sponsored by CEET from April 20-25.

Register through LearnNowBC ()http://www.learnnowbc.ca/educators/moodlemeets/default.aspx) or join CEET (http://ceetbc.ning.com/) and click on 'Professional Learning'.

All educators welcome. Pls. pass this on to anyone you feel might enjoy the event. Hope to see you there.

Thanks Sue, I'll will check that out!
