I am a technology specialist for a school in Houston, Texas in the United States. I work with 5th and 6th grade students and teachers. I currently have a technology club made up for students and I want them to work with other students from other places using tools such as Edmodo to collaboration on projects using web 2.0 tools in all content areas. I dont have a set lesson plan in mind - would love to create it with some ideas from other professionals that also would like their students to participate. It does not have to be the same grade levels as us - I would be willing to work with some younger or older students as well.

Hope to hear from people so we can start when school year starts (end of Aug/beginning of Sept)

I sent you a friend request on here so I can message you about the project.

Hi Jorge.  We've just opened school for the AY2012-13, so I'll need a little time to think about the project.  I started Edmodo for one of my periods, and I can't tell its results because it's our first time, and I'm so new at using it.

Did you have a specific project or topic in mind?  All of us working on same project and changing out students might be okay, as long as we keep it fairly simple so the students are motivated to learn more.

We would have to consider the time differences, also.

Hey Jorge.  I have been looking for something like this.  We have only just begun to use web 2.0 tools and have never collaborated outside the state of Wisconsin.

I would love to work with you on making this happen. I will email you so we can start planning.

sorry about that!  I've been a little busy. :-)  I just found out that our district has created an edmodo site... would that be an option for communication?

I am sorry for not getting back to you. I am just now starting Tech Club at my campus. I will have 3 groups of 5th grade and 3 groups of 6th grade technology club. We really do not have a meeting time per say - we do a lot of online items and communicate through email and web 2.0 tools. I would love to partner each group with a school and have them do projects together using Edmodo or maybe Wiki Spaces to communicate between schools. A Skype call to start would be fun to get the groups to know each other. Let me know what you think and if you would still be interested in participating!!

Thanks,

Jorge

Hello Jorge,

I teach Technology to 5th and 6th grade at a private, catholic school in York, PA.  We meet once a week for 50 minutes.  However, if we use web 2.0 tools and meet asynchronously, I think it would work.  I would love to join your Technology Club.  I am even taking a grad class on Implementing Web 2.0 in the Classroom.  I will try to write more later.

Wow thanks!!!! I would love to have some input here on how to make it really good for the kids to make connections with others but still have a great purpose for what they are doing and WANT to do it.

Hello Jorge! I am a technology integration specialist K-12 and I think I might have some 4, 5 and/or 6th grade classrooms in Billings, Montana that would be interested in joining an Edmodo community and collaborating! We incorporate Edmodo and Web 2.o tools into our teaching daily and are always looking for schools around the world to connect to. You may get so many replies that it overwhelms you so let me know if you would be interested in any help managing the project.

YES - I would love help in putting this all together. I have about 7 locations in the USA (one in Hawaii) that all want to participate so far. Using Edmodo will help with the time changes but I would think a first video conference would really get the kids excited. Then it is just planning the projects they do and how they will share them with their other teams in the other cities. Any ideas are GREATLY appreciatiated.
