A virtual Advent Calendar goes around the world!

Students of the FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Science, course Health management in Tourism, Bad Gleichenberg, in Austria are working with 21 nations on a virtual Advent calendar.
Every day it’s possible to open a new window, which displaydifferent content, like pictures, videos, poems and so on. This virtual Advent calendar is a part of the diploma thesis “Virtual Teambuilding” written by Daniela Rappitsch (7th semester of Heath management in Tourism). The aim is to create collaborative activities together in international groups, which help facilitate the crucial process of getting to know one another

It is amazing to see how excellent students are fulfilling their assignments of tasks, how many contacts they have found all over the world, how they are motivating their foreign partners and how intensively they are working together.
In virtual teambuilding people transfer emotional relationships and expectations regarding conversation-levels into the virtual environment with the support of virtual communication-methods like Moodle, Persony, Skype, MSN, Blogs and other similar programs.

We have decided to announce this Advent calendar to the public because it is nice to show the different perspectives of “Christmas” all over the world.
Christmas doesn’t mean only ; joy and happiness Christmas also means fighting for survival i in many countries.

Please help us to enhance the access to the virtual Advent calendar and visit our guestbook. We are looking forward to seeing your entries on this side.

Therefore please send this link/email to your friends to distribute the ideas all over the world, visit the page and post a message for the students in the guestbook!

You can find the virtual teambuilding calendar under:

Statusupdate for the virtual Advent Calendar:
Nobody has expected such high trafic and response! Thats good, but we hat to change some mp3 to midi, because we got downloads between 1 and 2 GB a day.
We had to change players, because there have been some problems in listening to the music, but now this works very well.

Daniela theses will be confirmed, that its possible to create teams with such methods. More informations at the Advent Calendar page.

Advent Calendar is not in the center of activities, its part of a couple of activities and tools. We use skype, msn, moodle, b2evolution blog,....and so on.

We would be glad, to get feedbacks, ideas, questions, that may be used in the running work or in helping interpreting this or just as motivation for the 80 young people from 21 nations working on that topic.
Guestbook does not work at that time well (no idea why), although there is high trafic, but we will investigate that.

Emotional topics will come in the future, Advent/Christmas is not only light and presents, its although dealing with young and old, war and peace, hunger and poverty....
On 24th Dec. there will not only be 21 Nations present there, there will be although a documentation about Bethlehem, looking through the eyes of a child 2000 years before and now, done by young Palastine Students...

Help the Students in giving them feedbacks f.e. here or sign the guestbook
