Short Session Description (one line): This session will describe how our global community of writers' gives students control over the global connections they make.

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

The Writers' Club is a global community of student writers that consist of nearly a thousand writers around the world. The Writers' Club differs from most global projects in that the requirements for participation are kept deliberately low - all students need to do is to write, and they receive a global audience for their writing. There is no requirement to write on any particular topic, and students can write when and how often they like.

The result is that students form links with others around the world based on their own interests and passions. This more authentic form of global collaboration gives control over the connections made to the students. In this session, we will look at the how the community operates, how it encourages students to read and comment on each others' work, and how it can be a starting point for further opportunities in global education.

We have a global digital story telling community seed by UNESCO PPN at http://i-am-the-story.ning.com

You can set up a group here.

There is also a group in Rwanda that would like to do this with another country. All they need is a little funding for connect time, Look at Isaro foundation.

I use writing as a healing process in US Gosple Rescue Mission... very powerful.

Hope this helps you
