Hi

I have a class which does a lot of group work (it works much better for them than individual tasks) but I've noticed that the class is quite fragmented socially, with groups often splintering into sub-groups which don't really interact with each other to the extent that I'd like. I've tried mixing up the groups a little more randomly but would really appreciate any suggestions on how to get all the members of a group working as one team.

Try making the groups smaller.  With partners or trios there is no way to hide or get out of doing the work!  Want larger groups, assign roles.  Another option is to have students grade each other on the group process---average the grades together and that can count as part of the total grade on the project rubric.
