I am student teaching in an 8th grade classroom with advanced students. We are reading the book "Flowers for Algernon," but I don't want to overload them with writing prompts in reponse to their nightly reading. Does anyone have suggestions for alternatives to written responses?

You can have them act out a scene from the book in class. Maybe have the students work in groups and recreate a moment from the book.
