New Technology That Can Improve Classroom Environments

I am trying to find new ways to incorporate current technology in an elementary grade classroom. Other than the simple solutions of powerpoint, smartboards, and laptops, what are some exciting and innovative tools that I should look into?

I have used a couple different applications that work great for Elementary school students.

We used Wordle for literature. When reading a story the students were to remember key elements in the story, names, people, places, setting. etc. Then with using a computer and using the app Wordle they typed the key elements along with something they liked from the story. They created their own word wall and designed it how they wanted to.

I have also used Voki for literature, history and social studies. The students researched a famous person and then created a Voki of that character. The had to get facts of the character and then they designed them, gave them a voice and created a short bio on them. The students loved this activity and you got to see some really creative work.
