- Scratch is a very simple yet powerful programming language that makes it very easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art — and share your creations on the web.
As young people create and share Scratch projects, they learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.
- This Scratch Education Event will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 and will include catered lunch.
- If you are a beginning educator come to learn about Scratch (http://scratch.mit.edu/) and how it can be leveraged in your classroom
- This Scratch Education Day will include Scratch basics, getting started, how to build a simple project, how to build a game, how to integrate Scratch with your Interactive Whiteboard, and how to use the Lego WeDo robotics set with Scratch.
What to Expect:
- 9:00 – 9:15 – Welcome
- 9:15 – 10:15 – What is Scratch, How do I get it, What can I do with it?
- 10:15 – 10:30 – Break, Snack & Explore Scratch
- 10:30 – 11:30 – Creating a simple Scratch simulation (The Fish Aquarium !)
- 11:30 – 12:00 – Lunch
- 12:00 – 1:30 – Creating a simple Scratch game & keeping score (Food Catch !)
- 1:30 – 2:30 – Programming Legos to DO something using Scratch
- 2:30 – 3:00 – Snack, Tinker & Play Session.
