<p>Hi all! As my PLN continues to grow, I am interested in ideas for globally collaborating middle/ high school math by incorporating a "flipped classroom". I have been following and studying Vicki Davis' concept of The Flat Classroom for a while and am very intrigued and motivated by it. Any personal successes/stories with flipping in mathematics and/or global collaboration (initial small scale)? I would love to hear them.</p>
<p>Thanks for your time and and input you can provide.</p>

Each week there is new questions relating to a philosophical idea, for example memories, dreams, creativity, etc. The questions usually link to a short video related to the theme that promotes discussion and ideas. This has run successfully for a couple of years now. My new focus is to expand the Web2.0 environment by involving other classrooms in the same content and promoting commenting and communication. In order to do this I have created a separate blog:<br style="FONT-SIZE: 1em; xg-p: static"/><br style="FONT-SIZE: 1em; xg-p: static"/><a style="FONT-SIZE: 1em; COLOR: rgb(153,0,0); TEXT-DECORATION: underline; xg-p: static" href="http://thinkersoftheworldunite.globalstudent.org.au/">http://thinkersoftheworldunite.globalstudent.org.au/</a><br style="FONT-SIZE: 1em; xg-p: static"/><br style="FONT-SIZE: 1em; xg-p: static"/>It has only a couple of links so far and there are now two classrooms involved. I am hoping to include teachers as users so that they may include new content and add classrooms as links so that we can expand this thinking community.<br style="FONT-SIZE: 1em; xg-p: static"/>In Australia we are in recess for holidays however I would love to her from other teachers interested in participating. You could try a couple of the questions and there are many more questions at my classroom blog, in the thinking category:<br style="FONT-SIZE: 1em; xg-p: static"/><a style="FONT-SIZE: 1em; COLOR: rgb(153,0,0); TEXT-DECORATION: underline; xg-p: static" href="http://greythorn4x.globalstudent.org.au/">http://greythorn4x.globalstudent.org.au/</a> Are your teachers sharing and collaborating on Web based lessons? Does your school have a central repository of lessons? This is not only a collaboration issue but also an issue of the school retaining the schools knowledge base when the large forecast of retirements leave.<br />

<br />
Example: Central collaboration of lessons also helps two history teachers in two different school build on one another experiences. It saves time in lesson development.<br />
<br />
Some will do this on Moodle. Are there other applications people are using? I would not consider placing lessons in the teachers blog or private web page as real collaboration.<br />
<br />
Would love to hear what people are doing. These are two examples of the strategies from an international and school district point of view from the <a href="http://globallearningframework.ning.com" target="_blank">Global Learning Framework</a>'<br />

Hello All,<br />
My 8th grade US History students would benefit greatly from using Skype as a collaboration tool and discussion format. We were able to successfully collaborate with a colleague here in California last school year. It provided an opportunity for my students to view and talk with others outside their environs. Both classes were able to discuss the life's of slaves and industrial workers of the Northeast. Being that said I welcome ideas and other collaborators. I can be contacted…

Here is an idea of what I cover throughout the year:<br />

Since it is "that time of year," I think a great way to introduce kids to the concept of collaboration is to share first day of school experiences around the country and around the globe. My first thought was to do Animoto videos, but I am sure there are many other great ways to connect. Ultimately, it would be great to create a web site or wiki with all of our experiences in one place. I would foresee us talking about traditions, fears, hopes, etc. I think staying with the ages of around 7-11…

I am new to the idea of collaboration and trying to learn all I can about web 2.0 technology, so I am very open to any guidance anyone wants to give. I am a third grade teacher in an inner-city school in a high poverty/ high crime area. I am hoping to expose my kids to other cultures in the country/world. Let me know if you are interested!
