And there are so many other sources online.

Learn how educators can experience change and impact their classroom practices through the free and open online training sessions offered by TESOL's Electronic Village Online project.

Full Session Description (as long as you would like)

This session aims at exploring the potential of teachers' connected learning through the Electronic Village Online, an online project for teachers worldwide in which volunteer ESOL teachers gather for collaborative, online discussion sessions or hands-on virtual workshops of professional and scholarly benefit. EVO offers free training for five-week for educators to improve their digital skills, develop new literacies, and learn from subject-area experts to help them enhance their classroom practices. By understanding one of the EVO session's underlying principles, the Digital Tools with a Purpose in the Classroom, participants will not only be able to explore the digital resources more than 500 teachers had the chance to try out, but also have an overview of practical ideas for the classroom. Besides, they will learn more how the online session was prepared to engage educators in developing meaningful conversations and connections to other like-minded professionals.

I'm a professor in the English Education department at Sangmyung University in Korea. One thing that I've noticed is the amazing growth in online tutoring over that time, which is probably no surprise to you.

Videoconferencing used to be relegated to businesses and large universities, but now, in the hands of individual learners and educators, it is a revolutionary tool for language education. down to the smallest detail and I will be sharing materials from the class this
weekend through this blog. The course
was entitled “Creating Learning Communities With Technology.” Here we studied free popular tools to develop
internet skills in our classrooms.

Two items I intend to try this coming year are 1) a blog—one for my students and one for the teachers I will be supplying support for in their work with ELLs, and 2) a new
presentation tool from www.prezi.com (a tool
that takes the place of the more traditional Power Point which gives a
teacher/presenter more control over what participants see and when). In fact, Stanford is giving everyone who
attended the workshop the premium edition for a year free as a gift for
attending.

We need to think 21st century because our students surely are. In fact, they live and breathe it effortlessly. Further, my
high school students have very limited assets so if they don’t have access to
these tools in my class, where will they be able to use them? Also, as an adjunct professor in teacher
education, I need to show these credential candidates what is out there, how this material can be
incorporated, and why it must be used as an instructional support.

I will be spending weekend going through everything I learned at the institute and will be posting it here as well in case anyone is interested:)

As the year winds down, I look back on areas where I could have done more for my ELLs in their pursuit of English. Their writing and reading skills have improved and that is great. However, you would never know this from listening to them speak in a classroom. Incomplete sentences make up the bulk of their responses even with gentle nagging. There never seems to be enough of a transfer of classroom vocabulary to actual speech (without reminding). I have tried various group settings, games,…
