I'm a 5th grade teacher who is interested in revamping our social studies curriculum in which each student becomes an "expert" on one of the states. For example: California might offer topics like The Golden Gate Bridge, redwood trees, the Border Patrol issue, the Gold Rush, or Ansel Adams and his work at Yosemite. I would like help in creating a list of possible topics for each state from which the students can each choose a topic that interests them. I would love a list of ideas from you about your state. Can't wait to see what you offer. This is what Gayle wrote about earlier in a previous forum. Help my fifth graders learn about the state where you live.tag:www.classroom20.com,2007-09-28:649749:Topic:533052007-09-28T15:40:47.904Zgaylehttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/ghkcole
I want my students to learn about the United States from people who live in the different states, instead of just using travel web sites. If I put together a list of questions for each state, (such as, "What are the most fun places an energetic 10-year-old can go in your state on a Saturday in the summer?") I am hoping people on this web site will respond with answers. Is this the right place to post the questions? Are there other good web sites or web tools that would hook me up with…
