Hello everyone,
A colleague of mine came to me today with a question as to whether or not a blog, a wiki, or a web page would be best for her high school juniors to work with. She is the ELA teacher in an American Studies class and is trying to figure out which one would be best for students who have study different 20th century eras and create some way to show what they have learned. Any thoughts? Thanks. Dan
Check out this link to many social studies projects listed for middle and high schools. It is a wiki, so if you don't find one, please add your own and send this to any social studies teacher you know.
http://bit.ly/cJ4Zhd

Sincerely,

Brian Mannix
mannixlab@gmail.com
Hi all, I am a fifth grade SS teacher in Connecticut, and I'd like to set up a relationship with a similar class in the U.K. to study the American Revolution (or War of Rebellion :) ). Does anyone know the best way to go about finding a teacher or school to work with? thanks! I'm open to collaborative wiki, blog, or other more innovative ways to share various perspectives. Thanks!

American Revolution Video Conference With A School From Englandtag:www.classroom20.com,2009-08-28:649749:Topic:3768852009-08-28T04:11:30.712ZBrian Mannixhttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/BrianMannix
For several years now, I've wanted to engage in a video conference with a school from England to discuss how you (and how we, a middle school in New York) teach about the American Revolution. Are there major differences in the way we, or our textbooks, depict the war?

Anyone from England interested in pairing up and pursuing this idea?
Well, we have a newly adopted textbook that has turned out to be....boring. Does anyone have any great ideas or units for 8th grade American History? I would LOVE to make my classroom more interactive, and I would also love to have some sort of project that links the year together. Vague, I know, but I am really disappointed with the textbook--it's quite horribly written and goes from way to technical to over-simplified in a paragraph.
