Hi.
My name is Fredrik Bergström and I'm working at John Bauergymnasiet in Uppsala sweden, teaching kids from the age of 15 to the age of 18 about media. How to produce layouts, graphics, radio, video, film and so on.

My year is now coming to and end and it's time for a vaccation BUT before I take a break I'm in serious need of your help.
The thing is that the theme for which my school will be working next year is "how to internationalize our school" which basically means that we will try to work hard towards making our school more of an international school and try to reach out to the world and other countries that might work in the same way that we do.

So my question is as follows. Are there any media teachers out there that might be interested in some sort of collaboration/discussion over the next year and perhaps a longer collab into the future. I have a few ideas but it would be nice to have your opinions as well.

Feel free to send me a line or two if you have what I'm looking for. This regards not only europe but also the rest of the world. Either drop me a message here or to my other (preferable) e-mail: bergstrom.fredrik@gmail.com

Please help me!
Fredrik Bergström - Media teacher - Uppsala, sweden.
Splashup Online Photo Editortag:www.classroom20.com,2009-10-25:649749:Topic:3966152009-10-25T19:19:31.586ZJonathan Wyliehttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/JonathanWylie
I just came across Splashup so thought I would share it here. Splashup offers two free online photo editors: Splashup and Splashup Light. The Light version is the more user friendly version, while the original version has more pro editing features. Both versions have Facebook, Smugmug, Picassa and Photobucket integration.

I just sat down to put together a tutorial for students in my Introduction to Computers Class when it occured to me that there might me an excellent one online. A Google search revealed dozens, but most were way too specific. Does anyone know of a tutorial that walks you through cropping, adjusting brightness & contrast while working with actual photos?

I am the school webmaster and also librarian/computer teacher. I would like to create an online photo storage account that the students/parents/staff can add and download pictures to and from. I am at an elementary school and literally thousands of pictures are taken every year and parents are constantly using disks and CDs to swap photos for each other. UGH!! I want to expose everyone to these types of Web 2.0 tools...but am not sure which is the best site to use.
I have created a Flickr account for this purpose, but am disappointed that you cannot download pictures again easily. I would love for the students to be able to easily download pictures from whatever site. My district will NOT allow any software to be downloaded on our computers. I need this to be completely web based.
Can anyone help me? Thanks! How can I remove the embed option on a photo or photo gallerytag:www.classroom20.com,2009-01-04:649749:Topic:2530292009-01-04T10:42:11.333ZTom Tolkienhttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/TomTolkien
I'm running an extranet site for a school. We're testing at the moment with some dummy photos. The network is invite only and moderated, only allowing current parents and students access. However, I've cheked the embed code which pops up on each photo album, and it still embeds into, for example, facebook, despite the privacy settings. Please can someone tell me how to remove the embed option on photos, and for that matters, music and videos.
I'm preparing a workshop to help some teachers learn how to use some web 2.0 tools. I'm focusing on digital stories, podcasts, blogs, and wikis. During the workshop, I'd like to show them some students examples. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

The Village School in Maine (a grade 3-5 school with about 675) is currently building their part of the planetfesto.org virtual ribbon--a segment long enough to circle their gym. They want to challenge another school to see how high a percentage of students and staff they can achieve. Ideally, the school would be in a different part of the US, or abroad. To see the Village School's great contributions, go to www.planetfesto.org and search by village…

Planetfesto's purpose is to build an environmental educational and action movement that creates a virtual ribbon long enough to wrap around the earth. To do pieces of the ribbon, students simply choose a photo on the site (or upload their own photo or drawing), say why they love the planet, and what they're personally going to do to protect it (we have plenty of ideas on the site if students don’t have their own). If they are stumped, there is plenty of inspiration just watching the ribbon scroll by, with impassioned declarations of love and individual action from all over the world. People from 37 countries have created pieces of the ribbon.

Some recent new features for schools:

-- search the ribbon and view a custom subset of just your school, location, or community. Teachers are often projecting their piece of the ribbon, like a movie.

-- rank individual pieces of the ribbon and view the most popular worldwide, and also by country

-- music (with more to come!)

The site was created as a totally volunteer effort by a family in California. Planetfesto was named one of the Natural Resources Defense Council's web sites of the week at: http://www.nrdc.org/reference/picks/pick0703.asp. We’ve also been featured in the E-bulletin of the National Association of Independent Schools.
