We are mostly a mac building and our teachers use iphoto to upload their photos, print and to create slideshows. We'd like to share the photos with students/families without having to burn a CD or upload the slideshows to our website. What is your favorite web resource for posting slideshows or pictures to share with families?

I am the school webmaster and also librarian/computer teacher. I would like to create an online photo storage account that the students/parents/staff can add and download pictures to and from. I am at an elementary school and literally thousands of pictures are taken every year and parents are constantly using disks and CDs to swap photos for each other. UGH!! I want to expose everyone to these types of Web 2.0 tools...but am not sure which is the best site to use.
I have created a Flickr account for this purpose, but am disappointed that you cannot download pictures again easily. I would love for the students to be able to easily download pictures from whatever site. My district will NOT allow any software to be downloaded on our computers. I need this to be completely web based.
Can anyone help me? Thanks! Free Webinar -- Using Photostorytag:www.classroom20.com,2009-06-22:649749:Topic:3555192009-06-22T16:00:12.323ZCarlhttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/Carl

Hi Classroom-2.0ers,

I just wanted to ask for your opinions on whether or not you think it is ok to include footage or photographs of your kids in your blog posts? I've been quite an active blogger on the sorts of things I am doing in the classroom, and I find it really useful to include snippets of kids' comments on the activities. Do you think it's absolutely essential to get kids and/or parents permission? In what circumstances?
I spent some of my summer researching how to provide photo, music, & video attribution and thought I had a handle on it.... My specific concern right now is videos as the district is blocking many of the sites and the built in attribution is now gone. So my question is this -- if I pull something from, let’s say YouTube, to Edublogs.tv and then embed it in my blog post how should I handle attribution. Also, knowing that I can pull videos from one place to another also means someone else can too — how do you provide proper attribution when it may be two or three “owners” removed from the actual owner. I look forward to your inisght… feel free to pass along your thoughts on photos and music as well. Navigating the ins and outs of copyright is difficult at the best of times, but even more so when you are a K12 student and the copyright information is in a foreign language.

Some friends and I have created a photo sharing Ning for use by K12 students in Israel. We are busily uploading any suitable photos we have, but obviously for a site like this to provide a real answer for students, we will need all the photos we can get.
If you have any photos that you would be willing to share under a CC share-alike, non commercial license or Public Domain - all you have to do is send by mail to
israpics@gmail.com

In the subject line write the title of the photo, in the content write any information you would like to appear with your photo eg: your name, website URL and license info, if it's not CC share alike non commercial 2.5

If you have photos of Israel, that would be an added bonus! :-)
If you read Hebrew and would like to join us - All the better!
If you know of an archive that it is legal to copy please add the URL in a reply here.
I'm adding a screen shot of the site just so you get an idea of what I'm describing.
I've created a few different voicethread projects with students, but I want to know the optimum photo size for this purpose? It seems you need 400 pixel photos for blogs and wikis and another size for Slideshare. I am using Irfanview to resize images, but I need several different sizes of the same photo to be suitable for different purposes. A few pictures I have tried to upload have taken forever (well, a really long time).

I just started my first wiki. I think I am doing alright, for now. Does anyone know how to change the standard picture? It is currently a tree next to the name I chose for the site. I have photo editing software and have created one that I would like to use, but I can't figure it out.

I recognized that on the classroom 20 wiki they had a different picture and I would like to do the same. Any help?
