As a part of a classroom assignment, I am to interview a member or founder of an online educational community and try to understand technology use in educational settings. After exploring this site the past couple months, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of activity and I am not sure which members are still active members.

If you are currently an elementary teacher using technology in your classroom daily and creatively, I want to know about it! I would only need about 30 minutes of your time and we could do it through Skype or a Google Hangout. Anything that works best for you.

If this is something you are interested in doing please let me know as soon as possible.
I'd appreciate any help I can get!

Thank you!

What is MySciLife?

MySciLife® is an online social learning environment where students create an identity as a science concept, such as an organism, animal. object or force: What would it be like to live life as a cell? Students develop this persona and maintain the role of this science concept via status updates, interactions and tools familiar to today’s youth—safely within the MySciLife® community. MySciLife® is a personal, dynamic science learning experience, a place for science-focused interaction, and a tool for teachers to assess understanding as students “live” and learn science, created by TeachersFirst.com.

Our MySciLife® Pilot Teacher Ambassadors had great success using MySciLife® learning community to deliver their science curriculum in Grades 6-9. Student interest, motivation and learning was shown to improve. Full results will be posted soon on our website. We would like to expand our research project to a total of thirty science teachers from across the country, next year. You will be contracted and compensated for your time.

The entire project is FREE for schools, teachers and students participating and will remain free. We hope to bring this project to life to provide fun and inter-active learning to middle school students.

Hi!

I am looking for any action research already conducted regarding the engagement of students with netbooks. We are looking at getting netbooks at my school next year for our 7th and 8th grade students but I need to gather information for my principal.

Has anyone conducted such research that they would be willing to share with me for the sole purpose of seeing how other schools faired?

Thanks,
Kimberly

Short Session Description (one line):

Curation is Social Media King and for this reason I launch CRED project .

Full Session Description (as long as you would like):

I launch CRED project after my web 2.0 project was finalist, runner up in Elearning Awards 2010 http://bitly.com/web20projectfinalistinElearningAwards . I launch web 2.0 project after I was coordinator in the module proposed by me called ,, How teachers and students can use free web 2.0 and social media in education “ and all the resources were posted on TeachToday website and presented in 22nd October 2010 at Safer Internet Forum in Luxembourg organised by the European Schoolnet and European Comission . CRED project was launch because I discover last year that is a new Social Media King around the web in the online world and this is Curation like described Steve Roseumban in his book ,, Curation Nation “ . Curation adding value for humansvbecause they do what no computer possibly achieve and for this reason is Next Big Thing in online world and the Art of : searching, selecting, sharing/bookmarking , organizing, interaction, communication . The Internet Curator's role is to seek on the web information related to a specific domain, filter them, select them, organise, share and present them in a unique way . In XXI Century Society where informatics and science developed spectacular and the use of new technologies aren’t regarded like a avangardist movement new tools and apps Web 2.0 and social media can bring a new dimension and can reform education around the world because electronic communication helps teachers and students to learn from each other. These new tehnologies can stimulate discussion, open gateway through knowledge, promote creativity and innovation for effective learning. Teacher and also students should have an entitlement to safe internet access at all times. Pulling Piaget and Papert , the use of participatory media tools in education is typically geared towards, creating a more student centered, adaptive environnement where learners can contribute to the course material, formulate and express their own insights and opinion, construct their own understanding of material by connecting concepts, to personal experience or current events, and learn from one another in collaborative environments . Web 2.0 , social media and other digital and information tehnologies are powerful and interesting tools, which open up new opportunities for everyone and for this reason teachers and students must know how to use it nowadays in a safety mode.
I try to make a platform for romanian teachers to implement CRED project, but for this I need founds . For this reason I apply in national competition Restart in Educatie with other 82 projects http://www.restartedu.ro/
project/proiectul-cred-%E2%80%9C-curation-restarteaz%C4%83-educa%C5%A3ia and unfortunatelly was only on 27 place after public vote and only top 20 went further in the competition see http://bitly.com/top20projects . But I hope in the close future to find people who want to support ,, Curation restart education “ project who will open gateway to knowledge for romanian teachers and who was launch from passion of use of new free online techonologies , tools and apps web 2.0 and social media who can be successfully integrated in the classroom .

We have been exploring how we can best incorporate research and technology in the lower grades and how it aligns with the Common Core. We have developed, beginning with kindergarten, age-appropriate research materials based on the Big 6 to conduct research projects. Our goal is to scaffold these research skills at each grade level so that students can effectively find information and successfully use it to articulate their understanding of various subjects. Working with teachers, we have created projects that allow students to use technology to share their understanding with an authentic audience. We have identified a variety of web resources, Web 2.0 tools, and iPad apps that allow students to use technology as a vehicle for synthesizing their research at each grade level.

During our presentation, we will be sharing examples of projects that we have collaborated on that demonstrate research, technology and how they align with the Common Core Standards.
As I attempt to express the importance of keyboarding to my students I am wondering if there is research out there explaining the financial benefits of the skill.

Several years ago I heard somewhere that people who know how to keyboard correctly are more likely to go to college, and make $10-15 more per hour than someone who does not.
