At the risk of sounding spammy, I just wanted to post a quick link to the latest song and video release from my company, educationalrap.com. This was actually inspired by my stepkids! They were having trouble remembering their state capitals, and I suggested it as a topic for our newest song. My kids feel pretty proud of having a hand in that. :)

By the way, if any of you end up making a video with your students, we'd LOVE to feature it on our blog and website. Drop me a quick note at taunia@educationalrap.com with the link, and I'll be happy to feature you!

Our high school is experimenting with bringing back the idea of having school-wide assessment practice for writing in order to encourage the significance of writing to our students and to show gains in our standardized scores. This kind of practice also assists students in college writing and ACT and SAT testing.

So far, we want to propse a "Grading Day" where the Writing and English teachers are given a substitute so that they can grade the essays.

Thanks!
Our school is looking into SIS Programs does anyone have any suggestions?tag:www.classroom20.com,2008-11-24:649749:Topic:2217082008-11-24T02:46:24.056ZFrankhttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/Frank73
Our school currently uses SASIXP for its State reporting system, but since Pearson will no longer be offering support does anyone have any suggestions about student information systems. We are currently looking at PowerSchool, but I would like more information about the different products available.

Hey all! I need to get some adventurous teachers for my alignment tool called Standardissimo. It's designed to help teachers cope with the pressures of the accountability movement. We only have Standards for California and Texas. Anyway, let me know if you want in!

MAY 2009 UPDATE: My fourth graders are going to be studying the states soon and will be doing research on one of them. As part of their research I'd like them to interview someone, hopefully in grades 3-6, about what it's like to live in that state and what they like best about living there. I'm hoping to conduct the interviews via video chat - with Skype or iChat.
I receive two magazines every month that are free to teachers and thought I'd post here how to get them.

The first one is English Teaching Forum. I get it from the American embassy here in Brasil and according to the website from the State department its available all over the world. The website for the magazine is http://exchanges.state.gov/forum/ and they have a link to a page there that lets you search for an embassy in your country. The website for the magazine is http://exchanges.state.gov/forum/ and they have a link to a page there that lets you search for an embassy in your country. In Brasil it was just to send an email to a couple of people at my nearest embassy to be put on the list and you receive it four times a year. The website above has a back catalog of previous magazines for people to look through. Articles can be downloaded as pdf if needed.

The second magazine I get only here in Brasil. Its called New Routes and I get it from Disal, a book store here in Brasil. To get this magazine just go to the website at www.disal.com.br and register for free and it will also be delivered four times a year to your door. You can view previous magazines online the same as above.

Both are excellent and well worth trying to get if it's possible. They have a lot of interesting stuff in them :-)
(Oh, I'm not sure if this should be posted in book discussions, if this is in the wrong place please move to the correct one lol)
