I know there are several educators out there who are using the Wiimote to create a interactive whiteboard. One of the key components to the system is an infrared pen which is used for navigation. I have just completed an extensive review of four IR pens that I would like to share with the Classroom 2.0 community. You can view the…

I'm working with a large group of teachers, and I'm trying to provide a low-cost interactive whiteboard option to them. I've created a Wiimote Interactive Whiteboard, which is great (and only $55). But now, I need to find some free software to use with it.

In the past, I've used Promethean ACTIVstudio software, which is great. Promethean has a free version that you can use without Promethean hardware, called ActivInspire, which is nice. However, ActivInspire (and all the other free and open…

Does anyone know of any free interactive whiteboard software that includes annotation, an image library, as well as widgets/tools like the ACTIV ruler, protractor and dice? If not, what's the best free software you've come across for use with an interactive whiteboard?
My grade 5/6 classroom are about to begin a unit of work relating to our Humanities curriculum that will use Simcity creator for the students to build their own cities through time. Are there any other classes who would be willing to use Simcity creator (wii or Ds) as aprt of a collaborative project?
At the moment I am thinking about a wiki based project where students or teams can input their city information as it grows, also a tips and hints section based on how to build a thriving city. The…

At the moment I am thinking about a wiki based project where students or teams can input their city information as it grows, also a tips and hints section based on how to build a thriving city. The time the students will spend on their Simcity World would only be about 30 - 60minutes per week as part of the project. I have read that this is possible, that using a Wii or a Wii Remote can turn an ordinary whiteboard into a relatively inexpensive Smartboard.

My question is: why? Oh sure, the finances may be reason enough for teacers without a Smartboard, but I have one already. Are there any reasons for me to experiment with this? Are there things I could do with a Wii that I can't already do?

I could sift through the mountains of info already out there, but I thought I'd start here.

Yah, it sure is alot to say. How about WRMTIWB? ;)

Anyway....

I first ran across Johnny Lee's wonderful videos over the summer (why did it take me so long to see them?!) and ever since I have been dying to try out the system. I use a Tablet PC (IBM x61) and a digital projector all day every day, but I would love to add in the ability to have my students (and myself at times) directly manipulate my projected computer screen (usually…

My department has agreed to pay for the needed parts so I went out and bought everything I think I need. You can read about what I ordered right here.

My questions for all of you are:
1) If you've used a WRMTIWB in your classroom, how did it go? What have you used it for? What do you like most about it? What do you like least?
2) What tips do you have for the initial setup?
3) What's one thing we should definitely do once we have everything setup?
