Facebook / Twitter to support incoming freshman students

I'm in the beginning stages of a project in which FB and Twitter will be used to support the incoming freshman class here at ECU. I'm very interested in any thoughts on this topic. Suggestions? Ideas?
If anyone would like to piggyback this idea and do that same at your university please reply to this post. The more "groupthink" the better.
