In the past I have been a part of several postcard exchanges and my students loved receiving the cards and information about each state. This year I wanted to try something new. I created a type of state information exchange using VoiceThread. VoiceThread is a free program at It is a way to have conversations around media. This is a very cool Web 2.0 tool to use in your classroom for any content area. Please visit the site and in the browse section enter 50 States Share and my VoiceThread will come up. Or the link is:
I am sending this email out during summer in hopes that you will get familiar with VoiceThread and want to use it during the school year. I plan to have my students complete our state, Missouri, sometime in September but this can be done when ever your schedule allows. There are really no limits for this project so have fun with it! Please share this with any grade level, and/or government official, or anybody you see who could comment about their state as a way for our students to learn more about our great country. If you have any questions or comments my email is Enjoy!

I talked to a couple of 5th grade teachers this afternoon and they are excited about this project. It sure beats doing state reports for the students. They want to implement some Web 2.0 and this would be perfect. Hopefully you'll be seeing some state posting from them soon.
I am so excited!!! Thanks for promoting this!! Please pass the word along to anybody else you may know...maybe another state? It does not need to be just 5th grade, it can be any grade and anybody. Thanks again!

I can't wait for my students to read your comments. Thanks for taking interest. Spread the word to anybody else you know.

Awesome project, I mentioned it in my presentation yesterday about VoiceThread at a local teacher tech conference.
Links from that presentation are here.
THANKS!! I appreciate the promotion of my VocieThread. Great links by the way. Keep spreading the word!
