Hi Or-Tal,

I teach at a K-8 Jewish school in New Jersey. We collaborate regularly with our sister school in Nehariya. What can you tell me about technology in Israeli schools? I'd love to increase student communication and collaboration through email, video conferencing, etc. but I'm getting the impression that they don't want or are not able to participate electronically.

What are your thoughts?
Jenn
Jennifer,
You HAVE to connect with Marsha Goren on Global Dreamers

marsha@globaldreamers.org

Tech is not wonderful, but kids are doing great things. In fact every year for the past 4 or 5 years they've entered the Global Virtual Classroom contest and WON!!!
Hi Jenn,
Marsha from Israel, and I am one of the educators leading tech in our country through Globaldreamers (http://www.globaldreamers.org) It is an authentic learnig project and we work through email, snail mail, and we have a Starboard in our classroom so we even do video conferencing through Skype and lots of fun things.
It may be that the school you work with do not have the facilities and may not even have teachers who are into the Internet and are tech savy. There are also schools that do not have great computer labs including mine but the kids and I make it work.
We have competed in many competitions and won computers and more for our work.
I am very proud of the kids at Ein Ganim School and their hard work has helped even improve Israel's image in the world.
I will be giving a workshop about technology to the elementary and junior high schools in our city and try to inspire others to enter this phenomenal world of technology.
Marsha

Hi Or-Tal,

This is Terry Ellis from Boca Raton, Florida. I have been working as a Montessori teacher for 15 years, and recently started my own non-profit as an educational consultant. My goal is to open more doors through the web and other communication tools such as Skype for student exchange and cooperation on projects that can impact the future of our world.

Would like to hear more about your ideas for using the web in the classroom!

Thanks!

Hullo! Mr. Konrad.
I would like to tell you that my future of education membership has been approved. My query is that what can and should I do now? In other words, how does it benefit me?
Thanking you,
Neeta.
My Page exists on Classroom 2.0 and my mail id is dangneeta@gmail.com
Susan,
It was encouraging to see your post as I started investigating the 2.0 site. One of my best friends and colleagues teaches Spanish in our program. I co-teach a "Spanish Tech" class where we integrate technology to support Gr 4-6 students in introducing and experiencing Spanish language and culture. I'm sharing the 2.0 site link with her today!
Hello, Cathy, and Susan!
I, too, teach Spanish immersion through computers, though not through computer programs, just with the kinesthetic use of the computer as a conduit. Please feel free to link with me, as I am a big fan of Tandem learning via e-mail and chats for my students.
Looking forward to meet you all in the 2.0!
In light,
Michelle

I would love to learn more about how you use tech for teaching Spanish. I am researching this very topic now for the school where I work.

Hi Susan!
I have a private middle and high school in Buenos Aires, Argentina, what age are your kids? Maybe they can exchange in both languages.Un abrazo
Lucia
Hi Lucia,
We are a k-8 Catholic school in Connecticut. Our Spanish teacher would like to communicate with another class in a Spanish Speaking country, perhaps at the Middle school level. Perhaps written or Skype?
Hello, I work in a Catholic school in Spain. Your Spanish teacher can communicate with me. I am a Spanish teacher.
Thanks for responding. We are starting out with this for the first time and don't have a definite plan yet. Perhaps we could do a combination of written communication, blog or wiki postings, chatting, or perhaps a Skype session. Do you have any ideas for collaborative projects? If you would like more info about our school you can visit our website at saintgregoryschool.org. Does your school have a website we can visit? What grade levels are you thinking about for this communication. We are thinking about grade 8. Thanks so much!
