Bandwidth is a concept much like public roadways - it just gets you from one point to another. The average users does not often think about the planning behind building infrastructure. The technologies that create bandwidth are always changing and once working are transparent. For wxample - if my ISP replaces several switches and converts their copper lines to fiber - all I will see on my computer is increased performance without know exactly why.
