Hey all
I'm in the process of setting up a ning for my adult English as a Second Language students class. They're newly arrived refugees and immigrants to Australia who've had little or no experience with computers or multimedia before. They're a group that is extremely keen to learn IT and take to it like nothing else I've seen before.
We've had 2 terms in which I've seen them engaged at a really high level, teaching each other, turning up for class early for extra lessons. It's really inspiring for me and has shown me the importance of challenging them but also developing tasks that are authentic for them.
So I'm wanting to move to another level now and I'm keen to know how you went about setting your ning in their classroom. How did you organise it, lead into it. What are your purposes for it. How did you introduce the notion of networks. Basically any ideas at all would be great.
