My lesson is about how to use twitter in your classroom. First, I would make sure that everyone had access to either a laptop, iPad, or smartphone. The iPads will already have the twitter app downloaded. Also, I would need access to a Smart Board, or at least a projector, to walk the staff through how to use twitter. I would show how to assign articles to read and discuss about any topic and how to use hash-tags to be able to search for what students are discussing. The following links…

Juliana,

Great cheat sheet resources! I recently provided a workshop to the PE teachers in my district on iPad/technology integration in the gym. I briefly covered everything from iPads to flipped classrooms to Google Docs to Edmodo to Twitter, etc. My supervisor, who set up the workshop for me, now wants me to create individual workshops on all of the topics I covered. So these cheat sheet handouts will be great for when I do my Social Media workshop!

Barbara,

I had never heard of Voki.com before so thank you for introducing it to me. It looks like such fun. I think kids, and adults, would get a kick out of creating an avatar figure. It seems like it is something that is more on their level, particularly elementary school students, than just using Powerpoint or even Google presentation.

Karesa,

I love that you chose to talk about Pinterest. I think it has so many clever resources for teachers. Just recently, I learned how to pin instead of just looking at everything and liking it all. It is much better now being able to categorize everything that I like or pin.

The professional development that I have prepared and shared is actually a PD session that I just administered for about 15 physical education teachers in my district about two weeks ago. I created my slideshow for the presentation using Prezi. For this assignment, I used Jing to take a screencast of each slide in my Prezi presentation, which I then included in the following attached document. The PD introduced fellow PE teachers to iPads, how to use iPads in the gym, a multitude of apps, and ways other PE teachers have incorporated iPads into their lessons and curriculum. The Prezi presentation is a great tool to use to present information because the teachers were able to follow along the slideshow in real time as I presented it. They were also then able to either download the presentation later or use the link to access it at another time.
I just saw the rest of this t…tag:www.classroom20.com,2013-06-18:649749:Comment:9393002013-06-18T19:52:14.690ZJennifer Wilsonhttps://www.classroom20.com/profile/JenniferWilson429

I just saw the rest of this thread (on page 2) that you do use it with students. Do they use it on computers, or do they all have some type of smartPhone/tablet they can use in the class room?

Juliana- thank you for the cheat sheets for Twitter. I think Twitter has plenty of cool potentialities in education. You r lesson will be very easy for all to follow and everyone who would be there should be very capable of using Twitter by the end of the single session. Have you successfully used Twitter in your own classroom with students yet? If so, how?

Barbara, I found this Web 2.0 tool fascinating and quite entertaining. Excellent presentation. I really like how students can use it to create and post presentations with their own character. It certainly adds interest and creativity to the oral presentation platform! I have added the link to my Delicious site!

My kids love it. They love when I post questions on it and whoever answers first gets candy. I didn't ask for permission, but I haven't had any complaints. There are three other teachers in my school who actively use it too. I have two parent followers, hopefully I'll get more next year. I really use it just as a tool to interact with my students. I definitely recommend it!

Kristin,

What a thorough presentation!!! I loved how you connected it to education and how you can make it useful for parents and students. I've been thinking about creating a facebook page with for my bands and what a great resource to use 'events' to get info out about field trips and concerts! I send emails and notes home, as well as post it to the school's website, but I still get those parents that have no idea when the concerts are. This may be a great way to reach them!…
